Named in honor of Justin McCurry, a young man with developmental disabilities who worked in the Developmental Disabilities Council of Oklahoma offices from 2000 until his death in 2004.
Justin was passionate about his work, and well-loved by council members and staff. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers; the logo for the library named for him was designed with a small green letter G in the spine of the book, as a subtle tribute to Justin's beloved team.
The Justin A. McCurry Library and Resource Center is located at: 2401 NW 23rd Street, Suite 74, Oklahoma City, OK 73107.
Generally, the library is open during the Council's business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. State Holidays are observed, and there are some occasions when the office is closed due to meetings and special events at which the full staff are present. Please call ahead to assure staff will be available to assist you.
There are more than 2,500 books available to read in our library or to borrow. At this time, VHS and DVDs are for in-house viewing. If you have a viewing, or would like to arrange one, contact the Council Staff by email or phone: (405) 521-4984.
Our books and videos range from such varied topics as funding sources and non-profit management to special education issues, along with information on specific disabilities such as Autism, Asperger's, Down Syndrome, etc.
If you would like to borrow a book from the library, we ask you to fill out a short library application for check-out privileges. This application is available in our library or you may download to fill it out in advance. Please bring a government issued photo ID at the time of processing your application.
You may check out up to 3 items at a time and may keep them for 30 days. After the 30-day limit, items may be renewed for an additional 30-day period, if no other customers are waiting for the checked out material.
